A Beautiful Reversal

It’s hard to think that only a couple weeks ago I was lying helplessly in bed, dreading each passing day here and counting down the days till I could go home.

Though I still think about my home often, I have embraced this opportunity to study abroad.

In light of this change in my perspective, I have decided to list some reasons why I enjoy being over here.

1. The food is cheap—nothing beats 5 kuai per meal and 1-2 kuai ice cream (oh my so yummy!!)
2. I enjoy the challenges. God has been challenging me daily to grow in character. Humility, perseverance, maturity, etc.
3. I love riding my bike as I weave and cut through the busy streets of Beijing, with the warm air blowing against my face (okay it’s dirty air but hey it’s nice anyways). As dangerous as it sounds, it’s exhilirating!
4. I enjoy taking care of myself. This opportunity to learn how to be independent has proven to be profitable, especially since I have been quite dependent on my parents.
5. I love riding the bus. Even the “pushers” (those who push their way at will without any excuse me or sorry through the bus) make things more exciting. Nothing beats 4 jiao fares either.

Btw, new VBLOG to come soon. Stay posted!
